Tuesday was filled with replies/follow up phone calls, emails, tweets, and instant messages regarding a host hotel for young alumni during the Atlanta Football Classic, game tickets, and sponsorships. What a day. I’m operating on pure adrenaline at this point. Its weird because I’m amped physcially, but mentally exhausted. Don’t try this at home kids.
Our current mission: finding young alumni to execute the mission of the Young Alumni Movement in their respective cities. Lauren Grant and Mitch Brooks (MABDC) are in charge of recruiting young alums in the Mid-Atlantic region, and I’m in charge of finding at least 50 totally awesome people in each of the following cities: Miami/South Florida, Orlando, and Tallahassee.
The only way that this movement will succeed is if we get support from the local level. I’m looking for people who’ve held any type of leadership position on campus, the classroom, heck, even your clique to continue to be that leader. The best part is that we’ll have a ton of fun doing it. Responsibilities are as simple as locating/inviting other young alums (from FAMU and other schools) to our events. If you’d like more responsibility, please ask. There is plenty of work to go around.
If you are interested, please send me a message (there at least 7 ways) with your email address, mobile number, and graduation year. Feel free to include any other information that lets me know how great you are. Yes, you can embellish some. We’ll be starting the work soon (in less than 30 days in some cases), and we’re only accepting a limited number of people, so I need your responses ASAP.
