Shut up and train.
Well, my much anticipated battle with Rahman Grayson (AEIM Fitness) at 8am this morning wasn’t much of a battle at all. It was a TKO in the first round. Basically, he kicked my butt, and it wasn’t even close. The session started with a weigh-in, and I came in at 186.4 lbs (I thought it would be around 189). But here’s the kicker..my body fat percentage is 20.2%! Pretty much squashes my dreams of having a football skill player’s BFP of 6-8% by 2010. That’s pretty pathetic, but I’m not too surprised considering I’ve had to dial back my workouts considerably over the past 18 months because of knee pain and work (with the related stress).
I won’t go into the details of the cross-training workout, but 10 minutes in, I was about to throw-up. From a cardio standpoint, I was pretty good, but that “feeling” in my stomach started to creep up. The rest of the workout was set on cruise control because I wasn’t gonna throw up in front of all these people. Not the kid.
When I caught up with the rest of the group, they were doing ab exercises. Let’s just say that my abs need a lot of work. Def a weak area. Through all of this, I refused to quit. Even If I had to crawl (which I did at one point), I wasn’t going to stand and do nothing. I can’t stand quitters. The session ended with an exercise I learned a few years ago where you are forced to “think” about a few things…
To get through all of the events of the next 3 months, you have to be in top physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional shape. As an incentive, you’ll look smoking hot in the party photos. Shut up and train people. If you live in Atlanta, or even if you’re in town for a few days, I strongly encourage you to set up a session (or three) with FAMU young alum Rahman Grayson from AEIM Fitness. He’s located near Atlantic Station. For more info on his services, log onto www.aeimfitness.com.
This isn’t over. I want a rematch….
