We Got Several New Events Off The Ground This Homecoming

This year, our goal was to add more long-standing events for young alumni during Homecoming. And the first step in that process was to simply get the events off the ground.

We added:

• A Young Alumni Thursday Night Meetup
• A Pre-Step Show Happy Hour on Friday

Considering the details were finalized only days before each event, we think the events were successful. Next year, we’ll look to add extra elements to them.

In 2010, school/department Thursday evening receptions should be added to the event. Imagine an SBI reception for students/alumni from 6pm-9pm at Location A. At the same time, the School of Journalism is holding a reception at Location B. This is the model you see at the Black MBA (and similar) Conference.

These receptions will serve as an opportunity for relationship building between faculty, students, and alumni, but, more importantly, they will serve as a conduit for fundraising to address specific school/department needs.
