Many of you know that I’m organizing a weekly Thursday night event at Cafe Cabernet in Tallahassee, FL. This is a quick post on how we’re (feature) pivoting to find product/market fit.

Brief problem overview: African-American post-graduates in Tallahassee (and the state of Florida) lack consistent quality social options. Quality defined as “non-radio & derogatory music and adequately-dressed guests in the 23-35 age range.

Thursday 4/8/10: Untitled Thursdays

Hypotheses: House & Lounge Music Podcast + Venue Speakers + Focus on Restaurant Side of Venue

Outcome: Awesome Turnout, but guests weren’t really feeling the music. Vibe was good at times.

Thursday 4/22/10: The “Un” Party: A Social R&B Experience

Hypotheses: R&B Podcast + Bar Side of Venue (TV’s for NFL Draft) + Venue & 3rd Party Speakers

Outcome: Guest liked the music, but the bar side didn’t let the “energy flow”

The Un Party - A Social R&B Experience

Thursday 4/29/10: The “Un” Party: A Social R&B Experience featuring DJ Saxwell

Hypothesis: DJ playing R&B + 3rd Party Speakers + Restaurant Side of Venue

Outcome: ???

The Un Party - A Social R&B Experience

I’ll go in-depth on this at a later date. If you’re interested in attending the 4/29 event, click here.
