Converse + Private Event + Dope Shoes = A Great Freakin’ Day

So last Saturday night, I get an e-mail from inviting me to a private Converse event today. Figuring it was a nice gesture for my birthday, I quickly sent in my sent in my RSVP and awaited instructions. I, literally, was not prepared for what happened when I arrived.

I walked into a suite with a few a familiar faces and a TON of shoe boxes. Reggie Harrison (@coldfinger) is even sitting down trying shoes on. I get checked in, and they ask for my shoe size. I’m thinking “they aren’t going to GIVE these to me are they?!” A few seconds later I’ve being given a very cool looking Converse box with “John Varvatos” inscribed on it.

This can’t be real. Seriously, this really can’t be real. They really gave me a pair of John Varvatos Pro Leather Converse sneakers. And Reggie was hatin’.

Converse is taking over Atlanta this weekend. Everything kicks off with an exclusive Tip Off event at the Georgia Freight Depot from 6pm – Midnight hosted by Kenny Burns. Saturday brings a full day’s worth of activities with the Converse Open Gym at Ga Tech from 10am – 6pm, the Converse Band of Ballers at the CAU Gym from 12pm – 6pm, and the Converse Band of Ballers Poolside BBallQ at the Austorium from 7pm – 1am.
