I Was In Heaven At The #MyPrideMyWay Event Last Night

I got invited to the African Pride event last night at the King Plow Arts Center…and it may have been the closest thing I’ve seen to Heaven on Earth. It seems as if African Pride is a hair care line for, you guessed it, African-American women, and they accounted for 90% of the crowd.

And about 75% of them did NOT have weave. (Note: if you’re not familiar with my well documented hatred of weave, I’ll fill you in later).

Yeah, the event was hosted by Toccara Jones and Lance Gross with a performance by Dondria, but the main attraction was the bevy of the no-weave wearin’ women who were confident in their skin. There is just something about a woman with natural hair…

On a related note, I found out there is an entire organization for women in Atlanta with natural hair. As soon as I find its name, I’ll become their biggest endorser. They won’t have to pay me.

Thanks to Christa Pierce for the tip.

Stuff About African Pride

On the cusp of launching their national campaign titled, “My Pride. My Way”, Strength of Nature Global, LLC encourages women to write their own rules when it comes to hair. “Our company recognizes that today’s women are not monotonous when it comes to their hair styles and texture choices. Each individual choice should be equally celebrated with the final goal being healthy tresses and follicle protection, which is the continuous goal of our product lines,” states Charlene Bastien (Strength of Nature Global, LLC  National Marketing/ Sales Director).Charlene Bastien (Strength of Nature Global, LLC  National Marketing/ Sales Director). The African Pride brand holds extremely high awareness and fulfills a niche for the savvy in-home African-American consumer, who is looking for a “natural”, “holistic” approach to hair care, relaxing or texturizing of hair. The African Pride Brand has been in the HBA category for over 19 years and is formulated with natural ingredients such as natural herbs, olive oil, jojoba, jasmine and coconut oil to promote healthy and strong hair. African Pride re-emerges as an industry leader in the development of hair care products and solutions for the multicultural female customer.
