Thursday, November 10th Update: We’re now at 1,350 registered young professionals. The goal is 2,000. Pre-register for the Crown Royal and Ciroc at www.digitalguestlist.com/fall
Since 2008, I’ve organized/promoted events for Atlanta Football Classic, FAMU Homecoming, and Florida Classic Weekends – with the majority of focus on Atlanta and Tallahassee. Now with extra time to plan, its time to conquer the final frontier – the Florida Classic.
The previous three years have allowed me to gather a lot of information on what young alums don’t like/want from the Florida Classic. And its the same line – they feel under served. In fact, until 2008 with the Crown Royal Affairs began, many non- FAMU/BCU young alums from Orlando actually left the city during Florida Classic citing an influx of unruly crowds.
And young alumni from around the state share the same story: they don’t feel like their are enough events designed for their needs in their respective cities.
That’s a shame. They deserve more.
I believe Florida Classic should be a state-wide convergence of 10,000 urban young alumni (from all colleges/universities – HBCU AND non-HBCU) from Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, and South Florida. Kinda like a Grad Night for urban young professionals.
That equates to roughly 2,000 per city – a totally achievable number. Imagine a weekend series of events and experiences like: Thursday Kick Off event for sponsors/tastemakers/influencers/entrepreneurs/politicians from all over the state, a Friday Day Parties, private corporate events during the nights, a gala, tailgate, a special section of reserved seats during the game, and a Sunday Brunch.

Tavern is a great location. Should look at Greygoose lounge as another venue. Its at the new Amway center. Also, Draft is a great location for a mixer. Its across the street from Amway AND uts FAMU owned!
